Protection of Indigenous Children - 8 franc
This horizontal semi-postal airmail issue focuses on the introduction of centralized public health and social programs within the territory, bearing the specific inscription "Protection de l'Enfance Indigène", as shown in the file Work-of-Indigenous-Child Protection.jpg. The detailed line-engraved vignette captures local women and a child gathered in a village setting, with a backdrop mapping out traditional dwellings, a standing camel, and the historic minaret architecture of Djibouti City. Historically, this surcharge issue documents the mid-century establishment of localized maternal care initiatives, medical dispensaries, and basic educational infrastructure aimed at reducing infant mortality and modernizing family welfare systems across the nomadic corridors of the colony.
